| Nov. 9th, 2006 06:46 pm It's a first The date and time actually came up correctly today. I am amazed.

Today I got real work to do. Everything was new and everything was different. One of the secretaries is out and her two associates came my way for assistance. Of course, that meant that I had to ask for help every five minutes. I am not good at asking for help. Oh, I'll do it. But I don't like it. Talk about stepping outside the box. This is definitely stepping outside of the box.
It went well, though. I ran conflicts checks. Opened files. Did letters. Sent faxes. Sent out documents by courier. Prepared check requests. In a way, it felt normal. In a way, it felt weird. Nothing is done the same. Even to print from my computer requires a code. Everything we do is coded. Every move we make is overseen by someone. It feels a bit like big brother. And, I must admit, it is strange. But some things are easier. To request a check, all I had to do was fill out an on-line form. I didn't have to get any approvals or do anything else. My checks will be delivered to me in the morning. Too cool.
I also found out today, that next week they will move me to the second floor to work with a new attorney that is starting on Tuesday. That's cool. Except, he is part of the corporate office. I haven't even done corporate work for -- oh, let's see -- 13 years. Eweeeeeeee!!!! I have to admit, I am a little bit nervous. But, who knows, it could be a good thing. Hopefully, I will be busy. Talk about outside the box!!!!

Sonja has gotten back. I haven't seen her yet. I know she is here from the stuff that has been left lying around. It appears that she came back and brought a friend. Haven't seen the friend yet either. A bit curious about that.

I watched the sun set tonight. Big orange ball sinking slowly in the sky. Too cool. Too calming.

Today, on my way in to work, I noticed that there were six ships in. That is the most I have seen since I have been here. I've been told that there have been as many as nine ships at one time. That is a whole bunch of tourists. I mean, WOW! At lunch, when I went to find something to eat, there were lines everywhere. I finally went back to the little bistro over by the office. It was the only place that did not have a crowd. And that was only because it is a bit expensive and too far off the beaten path. I ate my expensive Shepherd's Pie and enjoyed the quiet. Wonder what tomorrow will bring?

We have a holiday on Monday, which means we have a three-day weekend. That is cool. Monday is Rememberance Day. I think it is a British holiday, but it could be Caymanian. At the moment, though, I don't care. I get a three-day weekend. I am looking forward to that!
Miss you all! Take care and don't forget to write! (I love hearing from you, Annetta!) Current Mood: curious
